Skiing at Copper Mountain

We love to ski. Since Joy’s uncle lives in Denver, we head out once a year for a family ski trip. Our favorite place to ski is Copper Mountain. Two hours from Denver, it has all the amenities one could want in a ski resort. Trails for all levels of skiers are available, as well as a snowboard park. Joy and I have steadily progressed from the greens to blues.

At the top of Copper Mountain is a large bowl between three peaks. This is the expert terrain. We don’t go there. The same lift that takes skiers to the bowl also leads to the top green run. This is our new favorite run.

The snows fell heavily for three days. Many feet of snow accumulated, trapping us in the house. We went to Blockbuster to pick up a few movies to watch during the week our first evening and the snow was already coming down heavily. After the second day of heavy snow, four of us trudged through the neighborhood about a mile to the local convenience store. The shelves were bare. No eggs, milk, pop, bread, bottled water or snacks were left. Most of the candy was gone too. It was like a going out of business sale only the store was still open, waiting for the next delivery.
