On the Road in Oklahoma
The road to Santa Fe is flat. Not as flat as Kansas, but pretty flat. And red. Oklahoma red clay dominates I-40 out to Texas. In an interesting twist, the enterprising Elk City High School has taken advantage of the red earth to create a striking architectural design. The wall enclosing the football stadium is built of large red stones and makes a wonderful contrast with the blue sky. It’s too bad the overall effect is reminiscent of a prison.
